Strategic Communication Planning

The Step Way: After doing our research, getting input from staff and setting clear objectives, we will deliver a targeted, comprehensive working document focussed on getting results

Step Can: Develop communication plans from scratch; review and make recommendations on existing plans; run interactive workshops to engage staff and assist strategy development; and implement communication activities

Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Management Authority (HNCMA)

The HNCMA covers a vast geographical area, with multiple target markets. The challenge in this Corporate Communication Plan was to ensure strategies were directed at the right people, without wasting time and resources on audiences that wouldn’t help achieve the organisation’s strategic objectives. Based on market research and consultation with Board, Executive and Staff, the plan pinpointed communication gaps, re-aligned the brand, clearly defined messages and offered strategies that could be adapted to a range of sub-communities within the catchment.

Nature Conservation Trust of NSW (NCT)

As a small environmental organisation with some weighty government contracts to handle and a vision for growth, the NCT chose Step Communication to work with from its very beginnings. By leading two Board and staff based workshop sessions that asked the right questions, Step was able to strategically set priority communication activities and resources for the coming year and beyond, ensuring they were targeted at the right audiences, and managed within a limited budget.

Cotton Australia

Step Communication handles all of Cotton Australia’s internal and external communication activities including grower and community relations and public affairs. With constantly challenging issues, Step Communication has developed both pro-active and re-active strategies for Cotton Australia to manage its relationship with the cotton industry, the communities in which it operates and the broader media environment.

AUSVEG

The Australian Vegetable Industry has a dynamic vision for its growth and place in Australian agriculture over the next 20 years. Step Communication’s challenge was to assist AUSVEG in devising communication plans that would support this vision and assist in its adoption. Through a series of projects including market research and Board and staff workshops, two strategic communication plans were developed, with one exclusively targeting non-English speaking vegetable growers. These plans have formed the basis for lifting the profile of the Australian vegetable industry and its issues, engaging with vegetable growers in a two-way communication process and reaching non-English speaking growers for the first time.
